this may seem a silly question but please bear with me as this is my fist ever boat but does anyone know where the batteries are located on my birchwood president ts37 fly bridge as before I start rewiring it I need to disconnect and renew them but no idea were to look cant see them in engine bay?

As I have a birchwood 37 I can tell you exactly! They lie between your two engines in a box with a cover. There are 4 batteries and they should be 100 amps or more per battery. You should have two for starting and two for domestics. All the large leads coming away from your battery box should give you a clue!

I guess the previous owner has moved them because they are not there in my boat! thers not even enough gap between the engines for 4 batteries the leads disappear rearwards under the rear cabin somewhere I will just have to trace the wiring I guess

problem solved the batteries were fitted under the bed in the rear cabin god knows why but at least it made them easy to change they have now been renewed and refitted in the engine bay the spiders nest of wiring has been sorted and the only thing that does not run is the radar but as its old will proberly renew it any suggestion on which type to use for sea work would be appreciated dispite having bmw engines which everyone seems down on she has plenty of power enough to get me ticked of by the river police!!! once its sorted shes of to spain for use in the med

Hey,
Good luck - just one small reminder. The BMW engines are not as bad as their reputation, BUT they are EXTREMELY sensitive to overheating. The BMW engines had a cooling that easily get restricted. As you are working on the boat I suggest that you get the coolers cleaned before you bring her to the med.

coolers have been renewed also the whole system has been cleaned and also new pipes fitted both engines have had a complete overhaul including new pistons rebore new crank and bearings heads have been checked new valves fitted etc so hopefully she will be ok just need to renew the radar and shes ready to go i hope!!!!
