hi all amondering if any on can help me i have aquired a birchwood president ts 37 flybridge with bmw engines i think its a 1984 model its in good order but the previous owner has made a complete mess of the wiring and half the controls dont work which as an electrical engineer is not to much hassle but i am trying to get hold of a wiring diagram and owners handbook/intruction manual. i have all the books for the radio radar gps etc. alot of the controls have the markings worn off so cant identify them. if any one knows were i can get them or has some i can copy i am happy to pay for postage copying fees etc

thanks

brian

I'd be more worried about the BMW engines and parts availability than the wiring which will be more straightforward to sort. Many on here won't touch a BMW based boat with a $hitty stick and resale will be a real problem.

I supplied the switch panel and charging system to Birchwood for the President around this time, so may have some information, believe we even have a spare switch panel front still.

I remember spending a fair bit of time in the engine room, big engines on shafts, so interesting what engines OP has fitted. Once had to change a mains charger fitted on starboard side, you had to work over shaft and exhaust, outside birth at Cowes with Red Funnel passing, so every few minutes the boat rolled badly, never forget that day.

not worried about the engines as i am an electrical and mechanical engineer as for resale value well shes not for sale it is more if a project as for the wiring being easy well if you saw the mess it is in you would not say that someone has attempted to rewire it using all the same color wire!!! and added all sorts of non standard parts most of which are now in the bin it would just make life easier if i could get hold of some wiring diagrams or owners handbook . thanks for your offer brian will get some pictures of to you asap

had no trouble getting parts for the engines eurocarparts here can supply almost everything just serviced the motors with new injectors filters belts and oil also fitted all new hoses which pirtex made for me at very reasonable prices

I had a TS37 for 6 or 7 years and really enjoyed it. I know I had a wiring diagram for the boat electrics and a BMW 636 workshop manual. I will have a hunt and see if I can find them. In my experience the engines were fine provided you kept the intercoolers clean and / or had the later larger ones retro fitted. I ended up fitting 310 D6's which transformed the performance - 25 knots with 8 or 9 people plus full water and fuel, stores etc! A great boat.

many thanks to brian at kiddpower for some very usefull info and wiring diagrams should get me started although with the wiring such a mess and a lot of the original controls bypassed i might be better of to rip it all out and rewire entire boat!!
have already rewired the engines they now start and run sweetly so getting there

Doubt there is a boat afloat that does not a have a birdsnest of mysterious wires that go nowhere and appear to do nothing(until you disconnect it of course).
Most boats never came with anything as useful as a wiring diagram,so you are not alone.

Suspect you will have to work out wiring as you go along. After market electronics will normally had been supplied with a diagram and somebody somewhere will probably have a copy.I have details and manuals for the Raymarine 70 CRC with the digital depth thingy accessory if that is any use.
