Birchwood Owners

Doh!

Tonight I had a call from the chap I took the door lock to. It seems he has managed to find a key to fit, and he is going to cut me 2 more.

In a zillion yonks of boating I have never ever locked the door. My theory being that they are so flimsy that a tealeaf will bust it open and cause untold damage. I've seen a boat where the entire patio doors had been ripped out just so they can nick a ½ bottle of scotch and a few beers. Let them have my portable TV its cheaper and less grief than a repair bill.

We have been busy moving bits and pieces in, but the Birchwood forum is open for business and ready to welcome all interested boaters.

Come and take a look!

In passing we still carry spares for Birchwood boats fitted with Powercentre switchgear and charging equipment going back to the mid 1980's.

Ok, do you have any idea which models of Birchwood would have that kit?

I am guessing that it may be the larger Birchwoods.

Very happy to put a link on the technical pages, but as most/all of us on the forum are Birchwood 25 owners I do not think we have that kit. (My switchpanel is a Vetus).

I'm sure mine is a 70's model but don't know all the history yet, looking forward to reading up and checking photo's of other boats of the same type

What is the difference between the Birchwood 25 and the Interceptor 25?
When I checked my records for the 1970s I only have the tech.spec. and blurb by Birchwoods for the Interceptor 25. I confess I didn't look deeper to see if I could find anything else.

Without sounding too geeky, as far as I know the interceptor is the early to mid seventies version and in the late seventies it became the 25 then the 25 Executive or just Executive at the end of its production run in the early 80's.

The Interceptor has a shorter cabin and smaller hardtop over the cockpit.

We have this one too..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We're going to open a Raggies forum next, a huge one with naked ladies offering their services free of charge. Then we'll ban all the Raggies and use it ourselves.

World domination is the ultimate aim, even the Freeman owners won't know whats hit them /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

This is an Interceptor

Well, would you look at that... a flag for over 1000 views.

Not often you see one of those on The Thames Forum.

Not at all bad from your first post !!!

It's happened I have turned into a complete Birchwood Anorak. I am viewing both forums here and the new Birchwood one at 7 am on a Sunday morning. I Was down at the boat yard yesterday taking off the covers as she goes back in on Wednesday. Back to day with the family to get them cleaning and polishing. So I have only today due to work commitments to do what took me a week alone last year. Am I going to ache in the morning /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: Birchwood Owners-tech spec

The Intercepter (yes that is how Birchwood spelled it) was introduced in 1968.

The Birchwood 25 was introduced in 1974 and the shaft drive in a tunnel version went on sale. (80 hp Sea Tiger).

In 1978 the Birchwood 25 Executive was unveiled with a larger heads compartment complete with shower tray. Top engine spec now twin 145bhp petrols on sterndrives. Shaft drive & single engine outdrives still on offer.

Production ceased in 1981.
