birchwood 33 trim tabs

i have fixed trim tabs on my birchwood 33,I removed them for repair and did not take a note of the postion, i think they are to steep now because in a following sea i get pushed around, any suggestions for the correct postion would be apprecated, as they are not easy to adjust when afloat.

Sorry if I'm stating too obvious or too basic but best course of action seems:

1. Wind em right up (parallel to hull) and see if she gets up on plane (over the hump) OK. If yes, leave them there.

2. If not, progressively wind em down 10 degrees at a time till you're happy with her ability to get over the hump and plane. Then stop there

Or fit hydraulics.
