Hi everyone
I am looking to buy a couple of Biosoks to skim off oil in the bilges. Windway has a slight leak from the crankcase on her Nanni Mercedes 40hp diesel and I get an oil film floating in the bilge. Not wanting to pollute the pristine Sardinian waters where we presently are, I would like a fit and forget solution and read about the Biosok on this forum, but cannot find a supplier in the UK or Italy, so need some help to locate one. Any ideas? or URL you can point me to?

Not Biosock but probably similar in function - UK based.

ASAP Supplies

They are not bio socks.....biosocks have bugs and things nesting inside and so actually destroy small leackages of oil and last years. They do turn up in chandlers from time to time but are more common across the water in the USa.

The ASAP ones you show are just absorbent material.

I have used these for ages and was surprised how well they worked.

Maybe they were too expensive to be popular. Mine cam as samples
of products for use offshore.

They are ok until you get a big leak, in my experience. I had one and it couldn't cope, and emitted a strong sulphurous smell that caused a crew mutiny (SWMBO insisted we put into Gosport on the first day of our holiday and clean the boat!). The chap I bought it from confirmed that they are not intended for this purpose, more for cleaning up drips and drops to keep almost clean bilgewater, absolutely clean.

Thanks Tradewinds I will order one of those and give it a try. GOG has a point and it is on my list of winter to do jobs. The sock will be very useful in the meantime.
