BioDiesel?

A Friday afternoon discussion amongst the engineering team in the office was going over the use of biodiesel in cars and vans. The consensus of opinion was that old engine good, new engine bad. This lead me to think about using biodiesel in the boat and I wondered if anybody else had any experience of using them in a boat engine?

The discussion of the technology that adds hydrogen and oxygen to the fuel before burning is for another thread.

It's fine if you use the boat regularly, but it goes rancid in the tank if left too long and gels.

I was lead to believe that older pumps may have seals/O rings which may have problems with Bio fuel. Newer engines have to be able to cope with Bio as there is 7% in road diesel, so it's the other way round AFAIK.

Relative shelf life of Bio and non-Bio is another thing entirely.
