I don't think we've had a discussion on binoculars for some time, so here goes.

Our Canon image stabilised bins, after 10 years or so, have become 'sticky' to the touch and not nice to use at all. Hence, we need to change them. Any recommendations?

I recommend you send the sticky bins to me and I'll carry out a detailed assessment of them and their stickiness over the next 10 years and send you a full report at the end of that period.

Bit off thread but maybe helpful. I bought a pair of Steiner from Bookharbour and got a 10% discount code for liking them on Facebook. I think it is on all sales?

I bought a pair of cheapie self adjusting bins. The biggest problem we find is picking up a pair of binoculars and having to adjust them.
Sel adjustment is really an overstatement, they are in fact permanently adjusted for forty feet to infinity. But good enough for a quick glance (any more and motion sickness is a possibility)

Aldi cheap 69£ with compass and light

Some may argue Steiner is the benchmark but I have a pair of 7x50 Bushnells at a fraction of the price and really cannot fault them.

Same thing again?

I recently bought a Canon 15x50 IS, and they work well for me.

From a beach hut on Hayling Island, you can watch sailing dinghies near the Isle of Wight, or read the names of the Cruise Liners as they trundle past.

Send them off to Canon perhaps. I did this with Steiner and I got new grips affordably.

I've used a stabilized Fujinon for more than 5 years now - see this thread which I posted right after buying it.
You might be interested to have a look, because also some other stuff was debated/compared back then, and I suspect that there weren't huge improvements, in the meantime: to date, I've yet to see any binocular whose stabilization technology is anywhere near it - which is essential for using a 14x bino onboard.
In fact, I've got also a 7x Steiner, whose image quality is arguably better (particularly in low light) and has an integrated compass, which can be useful, occasionally. But overall, for practical onboard usage, the Fujinon stabilization really makes the Steiner pale in comparison.

Hi,

What is needed for binoculars, yes I have, but I do not remember because I needed them, so would it be interesting to hear your need?

NBs

+1 for Fujinon Stabiscope. The stabilization is far superior to Canon in terms of angle of compensation. Search for the reviews. Much higher price, but could be worth it depending on your usage.

I never really ever used them much. But I recently went on a cruise with another couple, and they used them all the time. Looking for lobster pots, channel markers and cardinals etc. So I went out and bought a pair, but only cheap ones. I know the difference between the expensive ones like Steiner and the cheaper ones is dramatic and a good pair is worth the investment but at this time it’s at the bottom of my ‘must have’ list.

I've contacted Canon support stating the problem and asking for their advice. Let's see what they say....

Canon support has replied, saying:

"Thank you for your request and for contacting Canon. Regarding your query, I regret to inform you that unfortunately Canon no longer produces Spare Parts for the 10x30 IS since 2012. I can only recommend you to check with our Official Retailers what they have in stock. Other than that we cannot really do anything. We are very sorry for the inconvenience."

Maybe time to change brand if talcum powder doesn't work!
