Binoculars

And when my ancient Plastimo fixed focus finally developed a problem on one side I simply sawed it in half and expect a further 30 years service from my new monocular.

Pair of Bynolyt SeaRanger II on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/292059983739

Not mine - I'm only posting in case it helps someone.

Two or three pairs of these sold in very good condition for £75 - £85 around the first half of 2016.

I got a pair for £75 + £7 p&p in July 2016, and they still had the new rubber smell.

This is the first notification I've had since then, though, so I bet they'll go for a bit more.

That’s what I use and I like them, although I prefer the ebay price you paid to the one I did at the chandlers.
The Bynolts are comfortable to use and the inter-ocular distance has a wide range to suit many users. The image is crisp and bright and the compass is a bonus.
