Binoculars, have they seen us coming from afar?

I thought I would look at a new pair of bins, this time with a compass inside.

I forgot to take my PBO survey with me.

There is a very wide choice.

Or is there?

You can have the

Searanger (as used by the RNLI)
7x50
nitrogen filled
backlit compass
individual eyepiece adjustment
captive lenscaps
etc
£129

which look exactly the same as the

Opticron
7x50
nitrogen filled
backlit compass
individual eyepiece adjustment
captive lenscaps
etc
£149 - £185

which look exactly the same as the

Plastimo
7x50
nitrogen filled
backlit compass
individual eyepiece adjustment
captive lenscaps
etc
£320

So, Peter, it looks as if the RNLI had a bargain at long last.

Are we being taken for a ride here?
Perhaps PBO could do another survey.

I suppose it might just be possible to put different (better?) optics in the same case.
It begs the question "why are all the cases different". They could all use the same case and save money. Don't quote aluminium/polywotsit.

Is it me?

Hugh

I chose the same ones you would.

The optics are crisp and bright, the compass is accurate, they survived a drop (with small boy on top who had been told numerous times to leave them alone) from brigdedeck to cabin sole.

Buy them and enjoy!
