BSS examiner Bill Kane is retiring today! He did my BSS yesterday and gave me the bad news. Top bloke, he'll be missed! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
WHAT! I'm waiting for a visit from him, the arrangement being "when he's next in the area"
If he retires there will not be a decent sensible examiner as John Blake threw the towel in 2 - 3 years ago.
Gutted! But I hope Bill enjoys every minute of his retirement. When Bill did my BSS last season he was superb and I have recommended him on here and privately many times.
What I most enjoyed apart from her passing with flying colours was the chat and stories Bill gave whilst carrying out his work.
I second Nick's thoughts as Bill did my BSS test Thursday just gone and had plenty of interesting stories to tell while doing it.
I got the impression a large part of his giving up was the increase in certificate cost to the examiners from the BSS office and its result on Bill's (and other tester's) cash flow as I believe they have to buy them in bulk.
Still, at least I now have four years to find a suitable replacement for my next test and like Byron says, I expect I'll see him around at TVR and ATYC type meetings.
