Can anyone (or lots of people) advise on what make of electric bilge pump they use on board and voltage and the running current these draw?

I am designing a piece of equipment and need to know what is on the market so a generic design can be incorporated into my equipment.

Hi David,

I look after a committee boat and some support RIBs for a sailing club and we fit Rule Automatic 500GPH bilge pumps to manage water the day to day water levels. These are 12v and are fused at 2.5A so they draw much less than this under normal operations.

They only run for 4-5 seconds unless they sense more water in which case they keep running.

The RIBs only have small 12v car batteries and we've not noticed the overall AmpPH draw being much. I guess it depends on what requirements you have. The 500GPH pump isn't much use if you're holed !

One common failure on the Rule pumps is impeller failure because of grit.
