I have recently purchased a 1990 Sealine 220. Can anyone assist with the following queries?

1. How many bilge pumps are there?

2. Where are they located?

3. Are they by design, automatic or manual pumps?

I have found one in the engine bay under the engine - it is controlled via the switch panel in cockpit and appears to be manual?

There is a switch for Bilge Pump on the Cabin Services Panel - not sure how many and where these bilge pumps are and whether they are automatic or not ?

Grateful for any assistance.

I suspect the bilge pump set-up is the same as the later S24, one automatic bilge pump in the engine bay near to the front of engine (you should see something like a float switch near to the bilge pump) and a manual pump which is also in the engine bay but hidden behind the engine (is there a metal handle in the cockpit that fits into manual pump, usually hidden by a cover). The cabin switch enables you to manually override the float switch i.e. switch the bilge pump on, the dashboard has a symbol with a light to show it is on (not normally a switch). Of course previous owners could have added another bilge pump but unlikely on this size boat.

Thanks very much for the response - I must look in more detail - as I assumed the engine bay pump is manual - I hear it turning the moment the switch in the cockpit is turned on?

Forgive my ignorance - there’s no other pumps underneath the cabin area ?

Correct, no other bilge pump in the cabin, however there is a pump connected to the shower tray (no manual switch) which is essentially a bilge pump with a float switch but isolated inside a box, this is located under the second berth floor.

The standard system on Sealine was auto via a fuse and float switch, there was then a manual override that was supplied via a circuit breaker on the main switch panel. The helm panel had the switch to control engine bay pump, the main panel switch controlled mid pump, is the shower pump also the mid bilge pump on little Sealine ?

Old age catching up I think, if you have any switch panel questions send me a photo and I will see what data I still have on it.

Thanks for the response - based on another response - I assume the shower pump in the box to be the only other pump on board.

looking at the pump in the bay it looks like it’s been replaced by a rule and I think manual as when I switch the helm switch on it runs - however at that time I cannot remember the bilge pump switch position in the cabin! I will drop a photo or two .....when I swing by the boat tomorrow ......

Many thanks again

If you join the sealine forum you can down load the owners manual and the engine manual, ps you could ask big plunbs , ye i know he argues.

The pump in the engine bay should have two separate feeds, one via the helm switch, one via the float switch, either will operate the pump With the bilge pump running the legend over the helm panel bilge pump switch will light up bright red, if either manual or auto is active.

Hi. Having had a 218 and spent many hours on a 220 (same boat). I can tell you that there is one pump in the engine bay under engine. Should be auto and manual with a switch on the dash.
you then have a shower drain pump with a float switch in the toilet. The switch for this is on the panel in the cabin next to the toilet door. There are also push to reset breakers for these and other items on the same panel. Old school quality instead of just fuses.
great boats. Keep an eye on the electrics and earths in engine bay though. Roof rails and wiper motor fittings can leak on occasion.
