so iam looking for a 12volt pump that will plug into cigarette lighter, it only has to be small it is for when i wash my bilge down or just pumping small amounts or water , ideally it would be an inline so i could hold the one end in obscure corners. thanks for advice

You can put a cigarette plug on any pump, but cigarette lighter sockets* can't handle much power, especially the cheap and cheerful ones. I don't know the details, but doubt many bilge pumps would be such low power as to suit a cigarette lighter socket.

There are similar (but different) DIN sockets with, I believe, a greater capacity, but a completely different type of socket would probably be more suitable.

It's funny that cigarette lighter sockets are still called that, when that's now a rare use for them!

P.S. Apparently they are typically fused at 10 amps (sometimes 15 amps), i.e. nominally potentially 120W (180W @ 15A) but I wouldn't want to put a continuous 10 amps through most of them.

I've found a hand pump 4litre one I found on Ebay great normally used for removing oil made by silverline.

Ditto the oil removing pump. I replaced the removable plastic inlet pipe with a rigid tube I sourced from B&Q so I can "point and suck" from little niches that the bilge pump doesn't get down to. The small bore means I can suck the last dregs. Unless you have large quantities of water, I can't see the value in rigging up an electrical pump. My manual pump will remove half a bucketful in a very short time.
