My bilge pump has given up the ghost and is well and truly knackered (fuse blows when I try and run it). Problem is its located at the back of the engine compartment in a completely inaccessible spot, so I have come to the conclusion its easiest just to fit a new one at the front of the engine - not as good a place to have it, but there is no way I can get to the back without drilling a large hole in the boat.

Unless anyone else has a better idea...

The only thing that I can think of to un-bolt from the engine to get access is the boat itself. I would imagine they put the bilge pump in first, then lowered the engine on top. The only thing that might provide better access is to remove the power steering arm across the transom - but that seems a bit drastic.

Stick with your first idea. Will look like you have two bilge pumps then!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes, one working one and one lump of melted plastic at the back of the bilge.

A dumb question, but how do you fix the new one to the "floor" of the bilge?
I can't imagine a couple of self tappers would do the trick..
