Hi guys,

I'm totally new to boating so hope I don't sound too ignorant!

I have a 5.6 m long single garage and I'm looking at buying a rib 4.5m + with a trailer

I'm just wondering if any of you store your boat in the garage and if so, what's the biggest boat you can get in there including the trailer.

Are there any tips/tricks on storing a bigger boat like a trailer with a folding front or detachable front?

Thanks in advance,
Tom

I've seen folding trailer tongues on US websites, but not over here. eg. https://www.etrailer.com/Folding-Tongue/Fulton/FHDPW330300.html

I'm not sure if they are legal here, but I can't see why not. I think your best bet is to speak to a trailer dealer in your area, who should be able to give advice.

When deciding on a length of RIB, don't forget you also need to allow for the outboard, unless you plan to remove it every time, and they usually stick out further than the end of the tubes, even in the lowered position

Does it HAVE to go in the garage? There maybe valid reasons... boats of course generally live outside- a bit of water doesn't hurt! I only say this because the difference at sea between 4.5m (to fit in the garage, maybe) and 5.5m, would be significant.
Nothing wrong with 4.5m, but I suspect you might wish for 5.5m fairly soon.. but hell, maybe it is just then time to upgrade !!
Not quite the boat you were thinking of, but the larger Honwaves might fit, or even deflate- but they are not true ribs...
Or it might be for meandering up and down a river, in which case 4.5m might be perfect...

Could you think out of the box and fit an add-on?
