I have just returned from a 3 week sojourn around the Bristol channel and i would like to thank GonFishing for making me very welcome in Swansea. This has been the best trip i have ever made! I ran for 23 hours, at an average speed of 8 knots (thru the water, not bad for a senior 26 IMHO) and i finally made swansea (only been trying for 3 years /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif ). I only had one drama, and that was calling the coastguard because someone committed suicide on the tawe lock peirhead in swansea. The best point of the trip was having about 6 dolphins playing in my wake as i crossed from swansea to watchet.

(I even saw pegasus, Steve Rows Boat at swansea)

No problem mate! Bit of a pain in the lock at sharpness - they had to use the large lock and it took 2.5 hours to fill it!

I am looking forward to seeing you on the G&S canal!

well they did, we could see all the police cars rushing up to the lock, so as you do we took a little walk up that direction. I spoke to the woman who found the body and explaind how she had found the handbag of the woman that jumped and thinks she was from another country. She explained how her children had seen to much and just wanted to go home!

The suicide happened moments after we left Tawe Lock and were in the river for a setting out on a trip - the person did not jump into the Tawe Lock but jumped into the river just downstream of it - it was high tide and the drop was no more than ten feet but they sadly suceeded in their attempt. They must have simply drowned because the fall could not really have harmed them.

This was followed the weekend after by the sad loss of a diver out in the bay, so we are not having a good time of it at present.
