Big Thank you!!!

Re: Miffed of Fleetwood

I agree, we wished we could have been there but couldn't get down this weekend - I had to rip out wardrobes pending immiment fitting of new ones.

I suggest next year it should be held at Naburn Marina on the River Ouse. We could serve dripping sandwiches and drink Theakstons Old Perculiar (the girls could drink "halfs" - who said we northerners are not sophisticated!). For the grudge, rather than yacht racing, several intrepid types would row in old fridges (you can choose your own - there are plenty floating downstream).

Saturday nights entertainment would be Martyn Whiteleys (remember?) electric lantern presentation on how to convert from petrol to diesel - this will commence at 4:30pm to enable him to finish by midnight - (15 minute break at 8:30).

We don't see many Leopard 23m and Fleming 55's on the Ouse so they will be talking points.

Can't wait - I've already booked the local Scout groups tent for the refreshments.

Martyn

Yup!! Excellent meet and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Managed to stay upright and didn't need my drip after all.

The best sight was on Sunday morning watching MrsSailbad (newly returned from her intimidation lessons across the pond) frisking a very poorly Sailbadthesinner. Max thought/hoped that he was going to die while Lucy wanted to know where the car keys were. "I think I threw them over the flybridge!" he says. In the meantime she has unearthed 4 half-empty fag packets secreted about his person. Luckily, after an enforced bacon sarnie and cup of tea, Max was back to his bouncy self. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

During the evening I heard Arthur volunteering to host the meet next year. I can vouch for his hospitality and the facilities at the marina; I also understand that the weather is likely to be somewhat better.

Brendan volunteered to do the organising, or that's what I think he said, so who's up for it and how many fuel stops will be necessary between the Solent and Miami?

You remembered correctly, so how many hire boats do we need in Florida in May 2005, or are people taking their own boats there. I've got Martin Woolwich down as taking his own, as he has the range, but might need some persuasion to go over, but I'll happily take the helm if he's not confident enough to do it! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Yep, have to join in the endorsements from everyone else. Thanks to all who worked so hard.

Also thanks as usual to Col's hospitality on board Blue Angel, thought the spread that Vicky had laid out in the cockpit was THE spread/forums/images/icons/smile.gif.

Also thanks to PaulF for giving my daughter a ride in a real boat!!!

And from us. Well done and thanks to everyone who made it happen. The most telling comment was from a couple of friends we had aboard (they've been boating for donkey's years but just waterskiing): "What a sociable lot you all are. We can see why you spend so much time on the boat, now".
