Big problem with new outboard motors! I have a new boat ready at the factory but is getting very hard to get V8 300hp ob. There is a big problem here in the supply chain in the UK for all OBs.

Not just in whole units but in parts too. I'm waiting on dink spares and there is a lot of grumbling from peers about importing / supply chain. Even places where I've bought online in the States wont ship anymore.

The problem started last year actually...

5 year old Second hand engines are fetching perhaps 75% of new ones. A Honda bf5 is around £1100 new but there are some for sale at £750 which look tatty.

Supply and demand, particularly up to 25 hp which fit on small ribs and sibs.

Also, following a production meeting with my manufacturing team this morning across the world, we now have a very serious chip shortage. Even Apple et al are beginning to struggle as they have burned through their buffer inventory.

So, just as we exit C-19, we are going to be hit with a huge global supply issue for a small component holding up everything!!!

Another challenge to overcome...

For those industries requiring chips this is not good news. For the domestic audience then perhaps a pause in upgrading to the latest phone would be an environmentally good thing?

Yes,
Unfortunately I need chips to manufacturer our patient safety devices. Now, with a delay of at least 6 months, we have some juggling to do. These are not B2C devices, they are actually involved in saving lives and do so every day where installed by the NHS.
