I have no idea why, however the whole of the Las Palmas Marina, staff were replaced ! The new Female boss , immediately blocked the 6 month and 1 yr discounts ! Then she posted notices to around 400 berth holders , that they had 20 days to go elsewhere ! They got together , and hired one law firm , to block the marinas plans ! Ok with the Spanish Judicial Process ! That could take years ! Speculations run ! Is the Marina , so stupid that it thinks it can entice millionaire boats, away from Neice , Monaco etc ? What has Las Palmas got to offer ! Nothing like the opulence of the French Riviera , casinos etc ! Las Palmas seems to be cutting its own throat , due to lack of foresight ! What do ARC reprasentatives, have to say ? They must be heavily involved !

My Crome translation: 20 boats used as residences are not to be allowed. Probably Airbnb, as this is a problem in mainland Spain too. It reads as tho’ the company running the marina has lost the contract, and been replaced.

I stayed in that marina for two weeks in January a few years ago, on a decent sized Bavaria. Was through Airbnb. Was very reasonable at about £120 per week.
Young local medical professional obviously topping up his mooring fees. Was obviously not allowed and all done undercover. Made for an interesting break though.

Air band b is permitted on boats in Spain. But the regulations are quite onerous.

My daughter and three friends did an air and b in Barcelona on a small yacht…..the owner brought then breakfast…. Novella holiday

Where is this coming from? Nothing in local news services that I can find.
It has been all over Canarias TV & the papers ! Long long time ago, the Marina discovered that some families had up to 5 boats under different family names, all on Air B&B & similar sites ! They hired some computer whizz kid to find them ! The boat owners were threatened with confiscation & they removed the boats ! That has nothing to do, with the current situation , where the marina is trying to remove 400 boats ? Its now in the hands of 1 law firm , blocking the expulsions ! Why is nobody from the ARC , commenting ? I cannot believe they are being kept in the dark !

Airbnb on boats is nightmare in all marinas of the world: bloody noise and non ended fiesta wifh drunken " hooligans" in cockpits, people without maritime culture or etiquette, trash bags let on the pontoons, " maletas" as they say in Spain or suitcases with crazy wheels at 6 am, thefts sometimes and youngsters trying to jump on boats to make stupid selfies....in France more and more public or private marinas tend to stop this process. The problem is you have now less boat owners able to pay all the fees involded by yachting hobby. For information, next year the french administration wants to make more " green" by a serious increase on taxes paid every year by french natives keeping their french flag...a lot of retired people with what we call ''timoniers'' or fishing boats will sell their boats, they have oftenly 250 cv or more. The "ecologist" punition will be too expansive..
