There were regular steamers from Liverpool until about the 60's when there wasn't enough money to keep the boats running or replace them. Too many people had cars or used the train. I presume they are talking about stuff like the Hebridean Princess or full size cruise liners. Be interesting to see stuff like that traversing the Swellies, plenty of work for Emrys & Richard at Caernarfon. The passengers would be blown away by the experience too.
Plenty of trips at Llandudno, tram or cableway up the Orme to the copper mines, plenty of shops, not far to Bodnant gardens, Conway castle or even Snowdon or a steam train trip.
