Big boat sold... Which small boat is FAST...?

Hunter 707 - faster than just about any boat with a cabin mentioned so far.

I used to race one and used it for weekending. 4 berths, sitting room only and bucket and chuck it as a toilet. Does have an outboard, but lives in the cockpit and is the best outboard arrangement I've seen on any boat. Should be able to get one in price range as well.

As for how fast, I've had 16.5knots out of one, but that was with a full race crew.

I agree 707. Available for around 6k.
I had a Limbo, they are a hoot but not fast like a 707.

Inboard engine is not fitted to fast boats of that size.
Bit like fitting a bus engine in an F1.

You can get an Eygthene 24 within your budget. Most have inboard engines, some re-engined more recently have Yanmar 1GM10 and a folding prop. Designed by Ron Holland for the Quarter-ton cup they are beamier than most 24 footers and with almost 50% ballast ratio, stiff and very quick. The greater beam makes for plenty of living space below decks. We have cruised ours from Falmouth to Dartmouth and across to the Channel isles and north Brittany and regularly to the Isles of Scilly.

If you are interested PM me for details of ours which is almost ready for sale.

Well my Feeling 720 is very fast and as you know, you would be very welcome to come and sail her as soon as she is back in the water, but she is for sale at a little more than the prescribed budget.

I suspect the same would be true of the Benneteau and Dehler mentioned above.
A friend bought a Dehler 22 on Ebay for 2 grand, after one winter doing it up and a new set of sails, it is one of the best performing racers in the club.
