I have just had a most fantastic week cruising part of the Croatian coast starting in Split and ending up in Dubrovnik.

I will post a fuller report of the trip but it was everything I had been told about by members of YBW and more, an absolutely fantastic place to be on a boat.

In the mean time, below is a series of pictures of a Sunseeker 82 Yacht being expertly and precisely driven into cave entrances that I wouldn't take my 28ft boat anywhere near, a most amazing and unexpected experience as the Captain didn't speak much English!

The Captain pointed to a hole in the rocks

He came up from the helm onto the flybridge and edged towards it, none of us expected him to keep moving ahead.

At the next stop we were ready for the show, I just had to jump in and get a picture to show how close we were to the rocks, with his consent.

They left me on the shore got the boat to safety and I swam back out through the entrance, by this point the crew had put my pals were out in the tender.

Al, the crew were terrific, the Captain, the big guy at the back of the cockpit as I swim up just above the first mate does know the area well and seemed to know everyone in the ports that we visited, apparently he competed in the Olympics for Croatia in the rowing events, a huge man, a real character who just loves the sea, a real professional.

Great Pictures, hope you dont mind me asking but do you know the cost to charter for the week, we went to Portugual with a couple of friends and we chartered a Fairline 47 for the day and talked about something bigger for a week.

Thanks

James

Great pics, thanks for sharing. Now try that off UK coast with strong tides, big waves & strong winds!

Croatia is a great place for boating/ swimming - most of the time, but I have seen that coast with rows of white horses, storming up towards Split. It was summertime, but it blew up in short order

Thats weird I do precisely that on charters with our guests, I stick the nose of my P56 into a cave under the rock (Gibraltar that is).

Takes the folks on the bow by suprise, as I approach the rock they dont expect me to go under it.

Not always possible at Gib as it is on the south side of the rock exposed to the straits, would'nt do it in a big westerley swell.

Great pics I shall have to get some myself next time, problem is my hands are always full of throttle, will get help.

I love the girl with the pretty legs (and they are!), hopefully pointing a camera at a dark place whilst in direct sunlight and expecting a decent pic, no doubt also expecting the flash to solve the problem from 50m away as well. Don't you just love the lady's optimism. Like my SWMBO she'll no doubt also take two or three of the same scene "just in case the first one doesn't come out" so you get 3 or 4 black rectangles when you view them.

Lovely boat, nice pics and terrific scenary though (including the blond with the legs!)

A great hostess, nothing was too much trouble, the boat was immaculately cleaned and tidied, she was a fantastic cook and would not let us get anywhere near the galley, as soon as she heard or saw us attempting to get up off the sun beds she was up and ready with a beer!
We are all spoilt now.

fully agree !

do you remember where that cave was ? or the neighberhood ?

there is a similar one on the island Lokrum opposite to old town Dubrovnic,

but I don't remember having seen this one
We might go there this year.

Hi Bart, I am sure it was on the island of Hvar, but it could have been Viz, we made the two islands on the same day, I will try and find out for sure.

We have done quite a lot of the Hvar cost, not all.
The little village on the mountain in the first picture could be a cleu, didn't expect this on the small island Vis, but Google maps shows there are.

I Never visisted Vis, there must be a famous "bleu cave" for snorkling or diving. didn't the skipper mention about this ?

Vis is on our list this year,

thanks for posting !

Yes, you are quite right. The first mate told us about the blue cave, it was on the same island, we should have gone there and explored with the rib but the consensus seemed to be that it would be too breezy on that side of the island and with the swell still present from a storm the previous day this would prevent us from entering. The cave that we were at is known as the green cave, thanks for reminding me, I must be getting withdrawl symptons inducing memory loss from Grappa!
