Betamarine 35HP sea water pump

The raw water pump on my Beta BD1505 is knackered. I assumed it was a standard Jabasco impeller pump, but they say it is not one of theirs. Any idea where I can get a replacement (I want a comparison with Beta's cost for a replacement).

What do you mean by "knackered"? Surely it can be serviced/repaired? There's essentially nothing much in them apart from a few seals and bearings.

I bought a replacement pump for my Beta 25hp from Beta - it was not a lot of money, under £80 from memory. The old pump was a Jabsco and the replacement a Johnson. I reconditioned the original pump(it was leaking) and is now the spare, after fitting the new pump( I was short of time for our summer cruise).

£7 worth of seals would have saved you £73

It is a Johnson. I simply peeled the Betamarine label off the front cover and the Johnson details were below. DOH!.

Johnson F4B-9 10-24629-01. The bad news is that may be a specific OEM part unique to Beta, so only available from them.

As to why I want a new pump: Seals and bearings are generic and I can source them from the likes of BearingBoys. I'm doing this to service the present pump, but this year I am heading off to areas remote (Arctic circle) and I do not want to take chances on pump failure. Should it fail it is one of the few critical items on the boat for which I do not have redundancy, or a suitable work around.

.

I'd be a bit surprised if Beta have an OEM pump unique to their engines.
For sure, my engine came with a modified pump, the "as manufactured" outlet hose tail had been crudely threaded to take a right-angled hose tail and sealed with a large amount of gloop.
I'm fairly sure that this was done by Beta on assembly.
(I should have complained at the time to them about the poor job they'd made of it, but didnt).
Having said that, I've found Beta to be reasonably priced for the few parts I've purchased, I wouldn't be too concerned about buying from them.
Incidentally, ASAP list a version of the F4B-9, with threaded ports, for ~£80.

If you Google that part number, you'll find a number of sources other than Beta.
