I posted a while ago about the stop solenoid on my Beta Ten.
It was going to cost an arm and a leg to replace so I took it to bits and found the plastic coil former had been distorted (probably by heating). I reamed off as much of the distorted section as possible and also thinned down the soft iron core to regain free movement of the rod. It was then glued back together.
I refitted it this weekend and, after some adjustment to make sure that the rod's travel is as much as possible along the axis of the coil, it works.
Cost = £0.00. Result!
(If only the thing had been made with a more suitable plastic for the coil former in the first place.)
