Hi all,
haven't posted in some time but I would love a few opinions on this topic.
I have a Beta 60 which is a Kubota V2403 base engine. While sourcing parts through Kubota online I noticed Kubotas horse power ratings for the V2403 are 45hp NA or 55hp for the turbo charged model @ 2700rpm.
My question is how can Beta Marine sell this engine as a 60hp NA unit? ( they specify a 56hp rating). Curious.
cheers.

The answer can be in the difference between "termed brake horsepower " and "shaft horsepower". The first being the motor USABLE output measured on the brake, the other the power delivered by the engine on the crankshaft before some of it gets consumed by accessories like waterpump, cooling fan, alternator etc. Without the supplier specifying, you never know which of these two he is talking about.
