Hi Everyone,
Hope you can help (again) Put my boat in the water after a full year out having refit.
Serviced engine - Beta 30 (500 hours) flushed through, all new filters, good oil within spec, new batteries etc.
First time used engine fired up fine but I noticed smoke in engine bay, couldn't see where it was coming from, engine seemed to perform ok (though yacht is new to me) so thought it might be a bit of extraneous oil that would burn off. About 10 engine hours later its still doing it and I've had a closer look and located it to the rocker cover breather and indeed when I take the filler cap off smoke comes out, not a lot, but enough to fill a small engine bay quite quickly, which apart from anything else I imagine if the engine breaths it back in again it must be choking it.
Waters fine no evidence of oil or emulsify, oil's still at the max on the dipstick. I used filling station diesel, didn't want to use fuel at small boatyard think they get a delivery once a year. I was asked if smoke was blue or grey, it's a it subjective but think its grey.
Any ideas? I seemed to get differing opinions on the marina.
Or does it just want a good run? Have to say I've not pushed it to anything like max revs since getting back in the water.
Thanks again in anticipation of your invaluable advice.
