The warning buzzer on my Beta 20 stopped working.
The oil and alternator lights come on with ignition and go out on engine start. The green generator light works as normal.
Any ideas where I can start looking to correct this. The back of the panel seems to be sealed units, so wary of interfering with that without knowing what to look for.

Possibly a loose connection somewhere on the backside of the panel? The wires from the sensor switches on the engine (within the loom) reach the warning lights before they reach the buzzer, so cannot be ruled out.
From memory, the buzzer should also sound when preheating - is this also silent?
You can find schematics for the various panels on the Beta website.

I have the same problem with my Beta and would like to fix it too. I just don't prioritise it.... access to the back of the panel is awkward and then I'm no electrics guru so feel I'm more likely to do more harm than good. Keep us posted as I would love to have it sorted.

You don't say which control panel you have but they all have the same alarm board with buzzer ... see attached picture.
I would start by checking that there is a positive supply to the board when the panel is energised. See the wiring diagram for your panel in the Operators Manual to identify the positive connection to the board

Thanks for your advice, chaps.
It's an ABV panel. Tacho, key switch, stop button and 4 warning lights.
All the lights come on when ignition switched on, then go out when running, the green light stays on. It used to go beep- beep on heating, and beeeep when ignition on [you can guess my level of electronics knowledge from that].
This suggests that it is the buzzer is faulty. I would like to know where it is located before I go opening up the sealed components.

You can identify the unit by the six pole connecter block visible in the photo posted above. The three poles on one side are for positive feeds, the three on the other side are for negatives.

The buzzer itself is the black, cylindrical component in the photo above. The one on the panel of my B25 failed. It was made by Kingstate IIRC and had a part no. printed on it. A replacement was easily found on Ebay, <£5, but almost any 12v. piezo buzzer should do. Connecting it is a simple 2-wire task. I think that it was held onto the board by a blob of silicone mastic, but it was a few years ago.

While people are thinking about buzzers... Can anyone recommend a loud but LOW pitched buzzer? I can't hear the one on my exhaust temperature alarm because it's too high pitched for my old ears.

Check for +ve output from the Acc terminal on the ignition switch.

There is a fuse (40A?) in the engine wiring harness, supposedly near the bell housing on the engine. Also ensure the big block connector in the wiring harness is well connected.
Phone Beta, they may well know exactly what gives those symptoms. They are very helpful.

i will try thanks

i will try that thanks or do it mean i need a new key switch ?
If there is no +ve outputfrom the acc terminal when the switch is in the normal running position it almost certainly means a new switch but it may be possible to find a suitable switch from 12 volt planet or Furneaux Riddall for a lot less cash than from Beta.

If the fuse was blown there would be no power to the panel. The engine would not start (or stop if started by jumping a supply to the solenoid)

Deleted..... a quick search answered my own question. I assume it's an ABV panel.
