Beta 16 hour meter

Hi everyone,

Today I noticed, that my hour meter is not showing any readings. The panel is 2 ABV on a Beta 16 and everything else is functioning ok.
Any idea?

Hi Shogi

I too have the ABV panel and I think you have the same problem as myself... No display until after an hour or so of use then the gauge a shows a reading. The counter is still working it is just the display that has failed. I called Beta and they told me that it is a known problem and it is related to moisture content.

Since then I take the revcounter / hour meter home over winter, remove the panel lights, and leave it in a dry place. All is perfect for the first 4 months of the new season.

Unfortunately the unit cannot be taken apart for speedier drying or inserting silica gel bags although I am toying with the idea of drilling a few holes and fitting grommets that can be removed when I need a bit of air to circulate in harbour.

Same issue with Volvo penta hour meter set into the rev counter.
Mine comes to life now and again and its still counting. I have seperate meter fitted so havent bothered with replacing the one in the rev counter.

Thank you for the reply, agent leman! it makes a lot of sence and there is planty of humidity over here. I'll let you know if the redings come back to normal.

I'm not sure, that it is the same, altough is digital too. My tacho is VDO.

Checked the dimensions from the RS site and looks like might be the same.

The readings on our Beta engine hour meter disappeared for a while a couple of winters ago, then reappeared again before we'd got round to doing anything about it.
