thanks for previous advice about my blocked beta 14 drain. advice was basically remove the tap and poke wire through. haven't tried that yet but at the boat show on the beta stand they said easy thing was to remove the elbow completely and then poke around as the access was easier and the wire would not have to turn the corner.

I'm going to try the simple wire through the tap hole first but if that doesn't work and i have to remove the elbow does the forum have any advice? how fragile is it? is it a simple taper thread that will seal properly just by tightening? or is there a small gasket?

I don't know the answer, but would recommend you give Beta a ring. I've always found them knowledgeable and helpful. (& if it does need a gasket you can get them to send you one at the same time!)

Oh, and don't forget to post back on here to let us know the answer, too!

I too asked Beta at the show about this, and they said that the engine mounting is in the way, and will need to be removed first. I didn't go any further with the conversation, but if you find otherwise can you let me know!
