Fridge box is perspex, so cannot drill a hole too close to the corner.

Want to keep the pipe behind the plate as much as possible.

What is the minimum bend radius of the pipe? I would like to take it straight back from the plate if possible, but the stand-off is only about 1cm

It depends a lot on your bending tools and skill and care. I’ve done about 20mm with a pipe bender. Much bigger by hand.

Well, I think I have destroyed the evaporator plate by bending it in much too small a radius. Failure to read and understand the instructions! Radius is only about 1" against the recommended two inches and the tubes are kinked.

Will it work at all? Looks like the tubes are not completely sealed off.

I think the problem even if there is a restricted flow will be that it will cause problems for the compressor and ultimately there will be insufficient flow to achieve good cooling. It may even trip the load on the motor / compressor. But the only way will be to try it and see what happens.

It'll be fine. The restriction is likely to be tiny compared to the orifice into the plate, plus it is gas at that point, so should pass easily.
