Back on the boat in Spain and wanting to see the latest on BBC.
I used to use MPN as a VPN provider who were very good but they have recently been taken over by Le VPN
Since then I’ve had intermittent success with their Smart DNS and tonight again no access to the BBC.
Anyone know of a reliable VPN/SmartDNS provider?

Private vpn has worked well for me in Spain. About a tenner for 3 months.
Thank you
Looks good for VPN
I’m also looking for a SmartDNS site because my internet speed is poor and SmartDNS only accesses TV channels without encryption so works better for low speeds

Any other offers?, but I’ll go happily with the above otherwise.

Cheers
David

Hi David

I think we have the answer but you probably won't like it.

Buy a 4G contract from a supplier in the UK.
We use Vodafone - I just walked into a Vodafone shop in the UK and bought their "data only" package.

Then install the SIM into a MiFi or 4G router - I can post some links to the 4G router that I use if anyone is interested.
Since about Jan 2018, all the providers, when using their services outside the UK, route through an International Gateway and back into the UK so that they can monitor the data traffic.
This has the effect of exiting the provider's network into the internet within the UK.
To simplify, you get a UK IP address and the likes of iPlayer - just work.
No VPN necessary.

In our part of Spain, Vodafone and Orange (EE I think) are good - Movistar not so good.
I leave my Vodafone SIM/contract switched on all the time - even when I'm not there.
It has become a connection just like my "always on" home internet.

My contract is directly with Vodafone UK but recently, this one popped up on our marina forum (www.scmchat.com).

At £15.83 per month for 100Gb of data seems a good value.
I believe that GSL on these forums has just bought one of these cheap deals to try out.
Maybe he will comment.

I now remember that you have mentioned this before and I had forgotten all about it. I think £15.83 per month is ok. The alternative tvmucho is 7 euros and only gives live tv and my WiFi speed is poor.
Thanks
David
