Best Value Chartplotter

Is this the best value colour chartplotter. Even if you have to pay VAT on import I haven't seen anything that comes close. £265 with a 5" TFT screen!!

What are the Navionics charts like? Should I ask SWMBO for a Cap Ex chitty?

Seems good. Navionics charts sometimes aren't great in cheap plotters allegedly. They are raster scan bitmaps, so massive filesizes, and unless there is enough computing horsepower the redraw on zoom in/out could be quite slow. Would be good to try a sample before buying

Personnally much prefer the vector maps from C-Maps. But it is a matter of choice.

I have just got a Lowrance Globalmap 5000C with a bundled Navionics Gold Chart from JG Technologies Ltd (0845 458 9616) WWW.MarineElectronics.info - they did a great deal - whole lot for just over £650
