I would soak them overnight in a fairly strong dettergent solution to allow better penetration than a simple wash cycle. Then wash as normal and , if neccessary, a spray with Febreze. Also, the longer you can leave them to air on the washing line the better.

Pet odour remover may help. Worth a try.

Brake cleaner is excellent, but wash them afterwards as its highly inflamable then some!

Fabreze is excellent but do not spray it on whilst wearing the jeans . It stings the tender bits.
Do not ask how I know!!!

I think I'd go with the soak overnight in a Bio type detergent, then wash on hottest appropriate wash cycle.

Febreeze also worth a try if any smell lingers. I think it will do anything a pet odour spray will do.

Diesel odour can last for years. Some ropes i have were contaminated several years ago and despite several machine washes in detergent, soaking in dustbin etc they still remain smelly and contaminate all they contact. Dump the jeans and get a new pair.

Rub lots of plain white flour into the area and surrounding area then leave for a while to let the flour draw out the oil. Then wash on a hot setting.

I have had the same problem. We use a product we buy I'm France called Carolina ultra degresant. It takes fats, diesel, petrol and just about anything else you can think of out of the cloths and does them no harm. Spray the effected area and leave for 15 mins then wash as normal and there you go clean nice smelling cloths

Excellent stuff. I always keep a dribble in my engine bilge. It's biodegradable as well.

Had the same problem with diesel dumped on two pair of jeans. A lot of diesel as in spilled about a gallon on them. I washed them 6-8 times, soaked them for a couple of days in the washer and washed again and used every kind of product I could find (although I don't have access to that French stuff). Finally tied a rope through the belt loops and hung them over the side of the boat. Came back a couple of weeks later, reeled them in and the smell was all gone. Still have one of the pair.

or disposable nappies to soak up the excess. make sure the grandson has not used them first though
