Subject done to death, I know.
In fact, as I recall, the forum consensus was for this product as the best and more long-lasting:

I just couldn't find the thread(s?) where this was debated, so I thought to ask a confirmation to the caulking gurus.
Suggestions on where to purchase the thing would also be appreciated... :)
Thanks in advance!

Yep, IIRC he even mentioned that he specced TDS stuff for Match decks, but I'm not 100% sure.
And searching through his build thread would take ages, so I just thought to ask... :)

I asked JFM the exact Q you are asking now via PM a few months back. I'm attaching his reply I'm sure he wont object, just saving him some typing and letting him concentrate on his J&T :p

The caulk i used is by TDS/Teak Decking systems in sarasota, Florida. Easily googlable. The caulk they make is SIS440 and comes in black white or grey. They have European distributors listed on their website. It is about £20 per sausage here in UK but I have no idea how much you need to caulk a deck. Good luck!

cheers

LOL, wazzat? I was only aware of G&T, is "J" something more trendy than the good old "G"? :D

Anyhow, many thanks, that's exactly what I had in mind but it's good to have it double checked.
By chance, did you also find in the meantime a decent supplier? Tx again!

It'll look good in white
Naah, hang on a minute, I already admitted elsewhere that white caulking can be passable from an aesthetic viewpoint.
But there's no place for it on my old tub, for a couple of reasons:
1) I'm not going for a complete recaulking job (yet), and obviously a mix of black and white would be fugly;
2) On wooden boats, I believe white(ish) only makes sense in varnished decks, as in the old Rivas and the likes.

But your comment made me thinking, so I tried a bit of photoshop, which imho confirms my view as per previous point 2.
Anyway, glad to hear other views about the two alternatives! :)

You are correct, of course.

first it was meant to be G&T, now why I missed G by two letters in the keyboard, that's beyond me

second, you really need to work your Photoshop skills MM :p
third, yes, with gloss white timber next to laquered darkish wood (iroco?) black is better.

on a different setup (like the one I have in mind) grey would be fine.

regarding your other Q, I just did a quick ebay search wasn't impressed with what I found and left it for later as it seems that teak will be fitted later

cheers

LOL, yeah, at first I also thought of a typo, but looking at the keyboard layout I wondered if I wasn't actually missing a "J" something... :D
Yep, the varnished planks are indeed iroko, for the records.
Agreed also re. the poor whitening job of the caulking in the above pic, it was made quickly, just to give a rough idea... :o
