After cruising extensively this year and heading towards Falmouth and the Scillies in a weeks time, which is the best harbour youve visited for beauty and cost?
Cost wise for me is Plymouth area most picturesque Dartmouth.
Most helpful staff on previous trips would be fowey.

On a fine day, there is little to compare with sitting in the cockpit in Fowey on a mooring watching the Wednesday races and the sun slanting across the town and lighting up Polruan. On a bad day, I'd rather be almost anywhere.

Falmouth has to be very high on the list if not at the very top.
I visited the staff on Friday who are helpful, chatty and always exchange pleasantries and engage with the boaters which is most commendable. Only complaint with them is that I get tongue tied when confronted by the very attractive girls in there, but hey ho.
Exceptional amenities, good landing areas around. All in all a great place.

Dartmouth is my absolute favourite, closely followed by the Beaulieu River, Chichester Harbour, the River Yealm, Falmouth and Helford River.
Spoilt for choice, actually, you lucky sods.

Had lunch today in the Royal Victoria Yacht club at the mouth of the Wooton Creek in Fishbourne, Isle of Wight. Short term mooring a fiver, lovely carvery lunch for about £8 (I believe, not my turn to pay today). The terrace looks over the harbour with views right across the Solent and the water today was the bluest I've ever seen in the UK. Lovely spot. :encouragement:

looking forward to Falmouth now, I'll go in the office to pay my fees to visit the 'girls'

I guess it depends if you need to go ashore for supplies etc or just need somewhere to stop. I thought Flushing cove was pretty much perfect but I was only waiting overnight for the wind. Had a really peaceful evening there, slept well and was straight out in the morning, and it was free.

Emsworth - either on the visitors pontoon out in the estuary by the old oyster farm or in the marina.

We've just moved to Emsworth from Chichester, what a fabulous place, best move we've made with the boat.
