Best Reasonably Priced Bench Power Supply?

I want to play with things at home during the off-season and often need a variable DC voltage power supply. I commonly default to an old golf cart battery for 12V but its given up the ghost.

Time for a bench power supply I think.

Budget = £100 or so.

I suppose the ability to power USB things might be useful too = USB output, but that might not be possible (I have USB adaptors a-plenty)

What's out there that's good?

Obviously you'll need some DC to input - works great, constant voltage / constant current. Handy on the boat as well for checking LEDs or USB or whatever.

It really depends on how much current you want, whether it needs to be low noise, what voltage range etc etc.

I have had mixed results with ebay bench chinese PSUs. The first two I bought were brilliant, but the LCD display has packed up on one and the other is in an ex-client's office AFAIK.
The two I bought year before last, one nearly caught fire. The transformer is simply too small.

We must admit to having blown up a few ebay buck converter modules, but it's not a huge problem when they are a few quid each.

Have a look at ham or cb radio sites, possible to get some good psu's at good prices. I have been using a cb radio supply for years, 3a max but indestructible.

Thats the sort of thing I had in mind. But what do I know?
Seems to fit the bill. Thanks. Its better to get a recommendation than buy blind. I will have a look at the rest of their range as well.
