We're on the slip later today so that we can be lifted out tomorrow for a bit of wood replacement (at least I hope it's a bit ) and anti fouling. We were last out 3 years ago when we replaced part of the stern with 30mm Iroko. It was primed with Teamac underwater primer and glossed. In the last 3 years most of the gloss and primer has come off.

Can anyone suggest a primer that will stick to Iroko properly and the best application method?

Cheers, Stu

International say Primocon but pre-prime with a thinned coat:

BARE WOOD: Sand with 80-180 grade paper. Intertox if required. Pre-prime with Primocon thinned 10-15% with Thinners No.3 (15-20% oily woods).

They say not to use UCP on oily woods

Jotun silvergrey primer is excellent quality and far cheaper than the competition. I used it on Iroko last year and had no problems.
