Best price for Honda BF2

Looking to buy a new Honda BF2 short shaft. I've come across these prices so far...

Mailspeed: £430 (my son can collect so no P&P)
Gaelforce £417 inc P&P

Any one know any better deals?

They were selling the Honda BF2.3SC for sub £390 inc from memory.

And as recently as this month, selling for even less! May have been a promotion of course, but either which way, well worth a phone call I would suggest.

I was offered one at £380 at the LIBS* but chose a Mariner 3.3 instead as the BF2 being aircooled is so noisy.

best price imho is to buy a tohatsu 3.5.
a far better engine, i have just sold a honda 2hp almost new & bought tohatsu 3.5.

Just bought a honda 2 [from sailorman /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif] ...
noise ... depends how far you have to go .. no worse than the old one!
snatches ... not had that yet... could be interesting!
throttle/clutch ... just what I was after /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif nice and controlled approaches/take off - just takes a bit of getting used to...

The Tohatsu 3.5 is 2-stroke. I intend to use it in an environmentally sensitive area. I want a 4-stroke. The other small 4-stroke I know about (Yamaha) is significantly heavier.

I have the Yamaha 2.5 - it's a nicely made engine and performs well but as you say it's heavy. I wish I'd gone 2 stroke.

The point nobody has raised so far is that the air cooled motors will not succumb to corrosion and blocking of the water galleries in the leg and head areas. This is labour intensive to sort out so in the long run the four strokes could prove far cheaper to run when the reduced fuel consumption is taken into account as well!

Not sure if they are common for all engines but I've been quoted an additional fiver for a flushing kit for a Tohatsu 3.5 which I'm planning to buy. Apparantly allows you to flush engine with hose without engine running. Hopefully won't be too much of a pain to flush through prior to storage.
