Does anyone know of any resident dolphins or seals around the Solent at this time?

We would really like to see some, if possible. In the sea, of course, not the aquarium :-)

Thank you

No reporting of dolphins at the moment, but saw seals in Newtown Creek end of last year. They are there, but shy.

Lots of seals on the Buxey/Maplin sands, boats take seal watchers from Wallasea Island this is in Essex.

Quite a few in the Swale and of course the Porpoises up at the end of Sea Reach near Gravesend............we have it all round here, much nicer place than The Solent, plus all our seahorses are valued guests and we are not trying to exterminate them with massed Danforths.

Quite often see dolphins in the Looe Channel off Selsey Bill if you're at the Eastern end of the Solent. The topography shoals the fish there I guess.

About 6 weeks ago we had about 15 dolphins, big and small, swimming no more than 20 feet off our bow and they would have stayed there if we had not decided to head back in our original direction. This was just off Babbacombe/Hopes Nose, Devon.
Took several videos and got about 20 secs of really good stuff. It's quite difficult holding a video camera whilst trying to steer in the same direction and still hold the same speed as the dolphins.
Very exciting at the time and completely out of the blue.

Emsworth Channel

There are a family of seals resident by Marker Point, they pop into Northney for supper, they love mullet and eels, had one pop up behind the boat for a chat while he enjoyed his supper.

Also saw a Cormorant who'd caught and eel eventually swallow it, hysterical!!
