Well, according to Icom's website it too is IPx7 rated to spend half an hour a metre under water without damage. You don't need to worry about it being near the hatch.

Just need an on/off switch on the speaker. Useful if you want to quieten it when in harbour too.Mine (in last two boats) is a long stretch from the tiller. I've got a cockpit speaker.
Just do-able when on A/helm but tricky when asking for a berth/lock/permission in an unfamiliar port.
Point I think so far unmentioned, If I attempt to transmit on the HH when the main is on the same channel, lots of squarks!
