Good evening all.

I wondered whether anyone had any suggestions for good places to get boot top line tape? I'm after a thin dark blue line (like a thick pinstripe really).

My Google-fu appears weak tonight.

Many thanks,

That's really helpful, thanks. I hadn't realised that it was basically just masking tape! I would have assumed that would peel off over time.
It IS masking tape! Only use that if you intend to PAINT the boot top. If you use it AS the boot top it will look like, er, masking tape and will come off

Ah, good job you said so, thanks! No I don't want to paint on a boot top line, I just want to stick one on.

I've had a look at the PSP tape that AllanG mentioned, that looks like the stuff although the ones I've seen so far are rather thick.

The purpose of a boot top is to have a stronger, tougher antifoul because the waterline has the highest light penetration and growth will be highest, and floaty things will create most abrasion. I would use fancy decorative sticky tape for the topsides and do the boot top properly with paint, otherwise sticky tape will probably come off and it will look very ugly.

The idea is for the boot top line to be clear of the water - like this

Ok, that is not really a boot top, as it is decorative and clear if the water you would be fine with lining tape. It is used in the automotive customising trade so you may be able to find a good choice on custom car sites.
