Best Place for boat graphics

I agree they are good i used them before i bought my machine i can now do marine grade graphics or standard graphics and half their cost, a typical boat name from them say 130mm high x 946 wide ive had a quote in single standard vinyl came out at £21 plus £4.50 postage, thats a small size but i would do that posted for half that price, so if you double that size and order 2 its a few pounds off. Marine grade is slightly more but wont come off unless you want it too.

Ive bought 2 lots of software for my machine and both come with about 20,000 fonts. you can find a font you like and i can cut it or if you take a picture front on and upload it to a website called http://www.fontspring.com/matcherator it might locate it for you, or replace them both.

im going to be ordering the new chrome vinyl as it will be great on boats and some with a hint of sparkle

Good work Croftie, how did you find it? I tried Identifont and failed.

On my computer, must have downloaded it sometime or come in a collection.
I have a program called "The Font Thing". Just put in the text and scroll down all installed fonts to see what they look like.

Bought a boat recently - the firm who took the old name off and did the compound and polish said that some types of vinyl "raise" the gelcoat so that when they are taken off an impression (expression?) of the letters is left behind, Didn't have that problem on the new boat but we certainly did on our previous boat. Does anyone know how to specify the right kind of vinyl so it sticks for a reasonable number of years but when you take it off it leaves no mark behind?

Yes know that problem right now !

This causes quite a problem with King Neptune as I can't rename the boat until the old name is removed, and just removing the vinyl hasn't been enough.

What grade of compound should I use to remove the high spots where the old name was stuck on ?

I have done them before with a block and wet & dry until the surface is perfectly flat and the old letters still show clearly.

This is just a guess, but maybe it's not the type of vinyl that causes the problem, but the period of time it has been on. If the name is on for many years, the gel coat around it could be worn away by weather and polishing, such that when the vinyl is removed the gel underneath is proud of the surrounding area.

You get something similar if you have metal fittings on teak decks, where they end up sitting 2-3mm above the rest of the deck.

Couldn't rule that out. The previous boat was 30 years old and the problem was the original manufacturer's graphics which would have been on since the day it was made until they finally looked so unsightly that a previous owner peeled them off.

I might be too late but Grapefruit in Hamble are excellent otherwise Monster Wraps or Premier Wraps. all Hampshire based.
