I agree with the other people with regard to the Hurley, We have an Hurley 22 fin keel, you can get a good one for £4K, plenty of standing rigging, have proven record of ocean sailing, Atlantic and Pacific, very good in heavy weather . Serach on Hurley 22 on web loads of information

+1

There was an article some years back, bloke sailed a J24 out to the West Indies, I think he used tillerpilots too and no windvane. His rationale about this and the boat choice was that once he got over there he wanted to have fun-and you can have a lot of fun in the Caribbean sailing a lightly loaded J24.

Loads of boats 21' + have done serious offshore, but the criteria was 20' & below.

The design had a brief mention earlier, but I'd think the 20' Cygnet Super 20 + would be a good basis.

Astroturfing - Beware Single Issue Agenda's They Are Out To Convince You (-;

This is another of those Risen-from-The-Dead threads. 2002

I have noticed an increase in this. Could Astroturfing be involved? I recently read an article about Companies that specialise in creating multiple, detailed, synthetic forumite profiles. Software does all the work and builds some serious profiles and establishes a history.

An individual then uses the various synthetic forumites to start a campaign or establish an agenda for a paymaster. I reckon that these recent thread resurrections are Astroturfing.

The article I read last week describes an invitation to tender from the CIA for such a system. I think it was the Times Newspaper, on Tuesday.

Kingfisher 20 plus without any doubt - been round the world and crossed the Atlantic many times. I've had five and would rather be in one in a blow than most larger boats. Come junk rigged also which is even better - Blondie Hasler had one.

K20 - always crossing oceans - highly recommended - well within budget

So does that mean that I am wasting my time conversing with a bunch of synthetic forumites?

How do I know that any of you actually exist?

How do I know that I exist?

:O :O :O

My initial reply was going to be," it's the weekend, loads of time". But then I thought, how do I know time exists! There is no end to this line of thinking :D
