Best knot in shockcord

I have to secure a length of shockcord to an eye. In my experience most 'rope' knots work themselves loose when tied in shockcord. Any suggestions for a secure (and not bulky) knot in this role - preferably that doesn't require me to go out and buy 'The Boys' Big Book Of Knots'.

I have a piece on the inside of my locker lid to hook onto the guardrail and hold it open. The eyes on that are made by stitching the two halves together and then applying a seizing over the top.

If it has to be a knot, then a double figure-8 like the climbers use seems to be better than most. Pull very very tight after tying.

Pass it thro the eye & fold over, securing with a galvanised staple wrapped tightly round it, exactly how bungee cords are secured inside the metal hooks for luggage straps

I have gone away from knots and now use hog rings covered with self amalgamating tape if I wish to have a neat fiinish

Do a half hitch through your eye, and then do another half hitch as a stopper in the end. Work it all up tightly and it should be OK.

I've always found that if worked up tight enough to hold in bungee the problem with all knots is that they cannot be undone. Attaching to an eye will depend on whether you want a single line or double. For a single line, a stopper knot both ends will make a permanent fix, for double a cow hitched loop is the simplest.

I have loops of shockcord on my cockpit cover. I found knots to be prone to coming undone and bulky.
I now use several small cable ties pulled very tight to bind the two pieces of shockcord together.
If the cable ties are initially applied loosely then the shockcord loops can be adjusted for length

If the loops need adjusting/ removing later the cable ties are easily cut off. Geoff

Thanks everybody. Not having access to cable ties or metal staples, I've used a stopper knot so it doesn't pull through, pulled it very tight, and run a bit of instant glue into it to lock it. Should do the trick, though it'll have to be cut off when need to renew it.

We use bungie for our fenders to stop them rubbing and use a basic U-bend type slipknot and then use 2 small cable tiee on the free end to stop it working loose. Has worked for many years this way with no problems.

Clamp the 2 ends together, pull loop so that you stretch it more than it will be when in use, whip the 2 ends. The less you have in the clamp the less of the 'end' will be unwrapped.
