A recent thread discussed the merits of various BBQs and several people praised the Magma both gas and charcoal.
I am looking at buying a gas BBQ for this season (I believe that the slight loss of flavour with gas is more than made up for by the ability to get the food properly cooked!)
No one mentioned the Force10 and I wondered if anyone had any experience of them - are they worth the extra money? Or are there any other makes out there worth considering?

Best BBQ for a boat is the COBB. It has a plastic casing, you can pick it up and move it around. Even makes a nice warm spot in the cockpit to sit around after the meal. Use Aussie Heat Beads as fuel, you dont need many and they last a long time.

I just compared all and bought the Magma as it can be used to BBQ, roast, or use with kettle, wok, saucepan etc. Also think spares availability an issue. Its not cheap but none of them are.

The Cobb also has wok and, if I have understood correctly, something you could put a kettle on though I don't suppose you'd cook a sunday roast for four plus teas and coffees!!

I love my Cobb, cooks great, especially as Dylan says with the heat beads.

Re: Best Gas BBQ? - Enough about Cobbs!

Thanks for all the comments but I do not want the hastle of carrying round charcoal in the cockpit locker - lighting & disposing of the remians - I'm going gas!
Has anyone any experience of the Force10 - seem to hear lots of good things about the Magma.

No not enough about Cobbs !!! There is no hassle with charcoal. The heat beads are small, come in small bags and you dont need many at a time. honest!

Re: Best Gas BBQ? - Enough about Cobbs!

Can you get these beads outside the UK - in the Med? How well do they work with a) ordinary briquettes or b) ordinary charcoal?

We bought Magna but VERY disappointed with the system compared to what we have in Australia-(Classic BBQ).These are larger rectangular flat plate systems direct to gas set up- but do cost more than best Magna-Magna Seems light and fiddly -DO NOT recommend the small gas refill system- go for proper setup to onboard gas bottles .Heard Force 10 was good but we bought in Spain on a rush- bad decision.
