I’m not recommending it, but we had one very fastidious boat owner that swore by Ronseal Water Seal (or similar non boaty product) as a canvas water-proofer, over the years I have to admit there did not seem to be any deterioration of his sprayhood canvas, but I have to admit I have been hesitant to follow his example.
