travelling long distances at @ 10knots, stabilised in some way, length 45 to 50 feet and quiet ? would be good if it could do 18 - 22 kns if pushed. I guess I am potentially looking at some sort of semi displacement but I am not at all familiar with the breed.

Stating a budget would be a good idea and whether you're looking new or secondhand but the following boats might fit this bill

Thats just a few off the top of my head. I'm sure that Imperial One has informed you of his V d Valk aluminium boats. I'm not sure whether stabilizers are available on all of them. Btw, 10kts will be very inefficient for a 45-50ft boat because that speed is in excess of the theoretical max hull speed (about 8.5kts for a 45-50 footer) and the hull will be pushing a lot of water aside. 7kts would be a far more efficient displacement speed for this size of boat
