Recommendations please.

I have a Record BS300 and have never had entirely satisfactory results with the blades bought from Record despite spending a lot of time setting up the machine

I thought I might try another make,

I have the BS300e which I think is basically the same and (as said above) Tuffsaw blades make a big difference. IIRC, there's a difference in the blade length according to the 300e manual and what's actually needed. The 3 blades I bought from them are - 1/4" 14tpi, 1/2" 6tpi & 3/4" fastcut. All 2370mm but check if your are the same.

By the way, have you fitted a thrust bearing in the tension adjustment? Makes life much easier.

Thanks for that, Graham

I will buy some blades from Tuffsaw as you and the majority of others have recommended.

I don't know anything about fitting a thrust bearing in the tension arrangement but that sounds like a worthwhile modification. Can you let me have any more details about that please?

If the 300 is the same as the 300e, blade tension is adjusted by a knob on top, which is hard to turn when increasing tension for larger blades. Unscrew the threaded shaft and slip a thrust bearing and washer over it and screw back in.
