Best 25ft motor cruiser?

Diesel Doral

Do they make a diesel version?

The OP wants a diesel boat.

They certainly do - we have a Doral 250SE with KAD300 diesel engine - great performance and not too expensive to run - only problem is my growing family - hence it's for sale (see the link). :)

I see they manage to add a huge bathing platform even on their smaller boats!!!!!

There is a larger 32ft, i believe, version in our marina. You could have a party on their platform. Well you could if the ducks hadnt nested on it.

Fairline Carrera anyone ?

http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/BSE294

twin deisel, more space than a sealine, sea friendly hull,Fairline build quality, large beds and a great looking boat

One or two things strike me as odd with this example!!!

"The exceptional boat has been fully refitted;the interior fit out is to an excellent standard. The twin Diesel Volvo D3 Engines and SX Volvo legs were all fitted in 2005 and have completed less that 500hrs.You will find cheaper Fairline Carreras, but this unique boat is in a class of it's own.The owner has recently modified the cockpit canopy, adding a sliding hardtop in a similar style to the new Sealine. This is quite a boat just take a good look at all the photographs! These boat details are subject to contract.Note: Offers on the asking price may be considered.Register with Boatshed to see 32 extra photos of this Fairline Carrera. This Fairline Carrera has been personally photographed and viewed by Steve Booth of Boatshed Essex."

If you are looking for a 25ft boat why dont you consider one which you can use with a trailer. This reduces your storage costs over the winter, you can move from marina to marina or take it on holiday.

Great piece of advice there. I have an S23 and if I want to go from inland to the sea for a couple of weeks I just throw her up on the trailer. My friends have to arrange a truck at a hefty cost (each way!)

Thankyou for all of your replies.
Someone suggested looking at the Merry fisher types.
I suppose i am looking for more a caravan on water with trips out into Poole harbour and occ coastal.
We tend to stay on the boat at cobbs 4 -6 nights at a time.
Inboard shaft poss prefered to out drive.

Sorry pressed wrong key and posted half of message
length of boat 25-29ft
Is the V berth sleeping area in Antares and Jeanneau big enough for two average size adults.
These two boats appear very similar ,is there any difference.
Thankyou all again for your comments
Cheers

Which have you been looking at ? My MF 805 will comfortably sleep two in the V berth and two in the main saloon/cabin.

Yes the merry fisher 805 and the Beneteau Antares 8

The MF805's Antares competitor of the day was the 760. The Antares 8 is it's replacement (well overdue IMO) and is really the competition for the Merry Fisher 8. The Antares 8 was launched 2008, so you won't get the 2002/04 model you originally mentioned. Expect to pay £50k upwards.

If you are considering the MF805 against the Antares 760, that's the short list we ended up with. After looking hard at the two models we went for the 805. The Antares is, i'm sure, a well put together boat and i'm not saying there's anything fundamentally wrong with it, but we preferred the 805, after some deliberation.

Our opinion was the 805 looked much more modern. The Antares cabin seemed much narrower inside, the 805 felt a much bigger boat. The Antares was overpriced by comparison. That was about the only things that swayed us to be honest, the cabin space was the main deal breaker for the Antares.

If you've got any questions about the 805, i could probably answer them. If you were closer, i'd offer you a look around/spin. Some pics of ours here : http://s1138.photobucket.com/albums/n524/PaulGooch/Lewci/

I have quickly scanned the previous posts and cannot see mention of the Jeanneau Leader 805. Put it in on your shortlist and gosee.
