Best 100" to 150" Yacht Builders?

I have heard from friends in the yacht world to avoid aluminum hulls, which is disappointing
Why exactly did your friends say to avoid aluminium? And was it based upon their personal experience, or merely 'received wisdom'?

No boat-building material is perfect. Aluminium is no exception, but it arguably has more advantages than the alternatives.

If you are open to aluminium, Palmer Johnson and Royal Huisman are two top builders.

Not sure about in super yachts but I've worked on 5 different aluminum working boats and they all have/had rgular problems with corrosion.

The first was about two years old and well looked after but then issues between dissimilar metal in contact started to cause problems, arguably this was a build issue.

The others where I now work, are used hard but any small scratch or paint damage quickly spread quickly once salt water gets under the paint and plastic wrap. They are washed down at the end of the day with fresh water by the deck crew and then a soapy wash once a weak by the maintance staff

What happened to our buddy who was buying a destroyer, or rig service vessel or something and converting into a yacht/ charity ship? Was he real in the end? Was from New Zealand I think? Also had a 90 knot RIB...

Marinetraffic heard from Rob Bell's boat a few days ago -
